2008 Novateur

About This Wine:
French for “innovation”, Novateur is a unique wine made from Semillon and Sauvignon Musque grapes grown on our mountain vineyard at elevations from 2,000 to 2,400 feet.   The combination of our unique terroir, the “Lake Effect”, and sustainable vineyard practices create wines with a natural balance between sugar and acidity.  We picked the grapes for Novateur  at a higher brix (28°) and blended the two varietals in the cellar to reach the perfect combination of some sweetness with depth of flavor.
The lively, natural acidity in Novateur is essential for complementing a wide array of flavors.  Novateur’s medium body and lower alcohol is balanced with crisp, bright acidity making it a versatile wine which holds up to a variety of foods.  Let it cut the heat of fiery Asian cuisine, complement spices such as nutmeg, mustard seed, tarragon, and mint, or blend with the richness of “comfort food”, or just enjoy it on its own.

The acidity is the key to this wine allowing it to pair with a continuum of foods and cheese. It is the perfect cheese wine! Untames, exotic fruit, with minerality and a bright strand of honey.

Small plates cuisine: charcuterie, fiery Asian cuisine, rich comfort foods, and artisan cheeses. Novateur complements spices and herbs such as mustard seed, tarragon, and mint.
